From the very beginning, Almost Heaven was created to bring a small piece of our home state of West Virginia to the South Carolina Lowcountry. While days at Almost Heaven are often centered around time in the field or on the water, we believe the moments shared afterward are equally meaningful. From chef-prepared meals and fireside conversations to thoughtfully appointed overnight accommodations, the lodge experience is designed to feel welcoming, relaxed, and deeply personal from arrival to departure.

Long before the lodge, the hunting courses, or the plantation roads were built, there was the lake.

In many ways, it was the very first true vision for what would eventually become Almost Heaven Plantation and the foundation of the legacy founder Warren Hylton hoped to create in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Spring has arrived at Almost Heaven Plantation, bringing with it a season of preparation, growth, and anticipation for the year ahead. While another successful shooting season is now behind us, work across the plantation continues each day as we prepare for an exciting 2026–2027 season.
